Equipments
Knowing the essentials is the key to opening the excitement of the game.
The Cards- Players purchase cardboard cards or disposable sheets printed with one or more card faces. The type of game cards used varies generally depends on the hall. Still some halls use traditional cardboard ‘all-night boards’, or ‘hard cards’, which can be marked with chips, pennies, or tokens. But, today most of the halls use disposable sheets or strips of paper cards containing a set of number of faces like three (known as a 3-on) or six (known as a 6-on).
The process of buying cards is called the “buy-in” or in other words, you pay money straight to buy cards to be used in the specific session. Sometimes the buy-ins fir single-face, stand-alone cards, but, more often, the buy-ins for tear-off, disposable sheets having a number of card faces. Expect to pay anywhere from $1 to $20 for a smallest buy-ins.
Some of the popular calls are
- Legs Eleven for 11
- Sweet sixteen for 16
- Two little ducks (quack, quack) for 22
The Caller
Person known as the “caller” select the numbers from a blower or basket and declares then to the players. It is also the caller’s duty to announce the pattern of the game before calling. There are literally thousands of patterns from which to select and the pattern call changes in every game. There are two common patterns straight-line and coverall.
Straight-line pattern- In this simplest version, a player gets ‘bingo’ with a 5 number straight line. The line can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal. The straight line may include the free space, wherein case the player would only require having four numbers to call.
Coverall - it also called blackout, coverall is a classic jackpot game. The aim is to cover every number on the card inside a certain number of calls. In 39-number coverall, a coverall should occur within 39 calls, otherwise the game is over and on one wins.
